SHIRLEY MARGARET REMPEL (KROEKER) -
Date of Passing: Nov 07, 2004
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySHIRLEY MARGARET REMPEL (nee KROEKER) 1944 - 2004 It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Shirley Margaret Rempel, wonderful wife to Peter; mother to Angela (Gordon) and Jonathan (Jennifer) Nana to Vanessa, Ryan and Camille. She is also survived by her brother Clarence (Agnes), sister Elda (David) and brother Albert (Tina). With her family by her side, mom passed away peacefully November 7, 2004 at the Riverview Health Centres Palliative Care Unit after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. She was predeceased by her mother Margaret Kroeker in 1987 and her father Frank Kroeker in 1992. Moms infectious and quirky sense of humour, her keen intellect and razor-sharp wit, her love of gardening and her passion for music (particularly Elvis) will be fondly remembered by her family and friends. Mom was also an avid reader often going through several novels over the course of the weekend and she loved the challenge of crossword puzzles. She was particularly proud of completing the New York Times Sunday crossword in ink with no mistakes, a task she accomplished for the first time only a few short years ago. A devoted mother and grandmother, Shirley found pure joy in making other people happy and most often put the needs and wants of others before her own. She had a natural talent for turning everyday gatherings into special events and she was clearly in her element when planning pool parties, holiday gatherings and family get-togethers and nothing pleased her more than putting her superior culinary talents to work for her family and friends. According to her wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service in celebration of moms life will be held on Thursday, November 11 at 1:00 p.m. at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home and Cemetery, 1291 McGillivray Blvd., Winnipeg. The family would like to take this opportunity to personally thank Dr. Fewer and the staff at the Health Sciences Centre, the staff at CancerCare Manitoba and the wonderful staff and people at the Riverview Health Centres E-3 Wing Palliative Care Unit. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 109 - 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9, and/or Riverview Health Centres Palliative Care Unit, 1 Morley Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3L 1A2. We love you mom and we will think of you often - bye for now. Psalm 23 The Lord is my Shepherd I shall not be in want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside still waters, He restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his names sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. THOMSON "IN THE PARK" FUNERAL HOME AND CEMETERY 1291 McGillivray Blvd. - 925-1120
