GWYNETH BATES (nee MOSS) Gwyneth Hilda Bates passed away on Wednesday, November 10, 2004 in Lions Personal Care Centre at the age of 98. Gwyneth Hilda Bates was born in Merthyr-Tydfil, Wales, on September 1, 1906, the third of six children. It was her one regret that Gwyneth needed to leave school at the age of 12 to care for her three younger siblings. She married John Bates and together they worked in the catering business, opening a restaurant in 1946. With their profits they were able to immigrate to Canada in 1957. She had one daughter, Joan Nowasad, who was the pride of her life. Gwyneth was widowed in 1980 and lost her daughter in 1992. She leaves to grieve three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Cremation has taken place. No formal service will be held. We would like to thank the staff at Lions Manor for their gentle care of Gwyn over her last four years.
