Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDORIS MACLEOD Our beloved mother passed away at Grace Hospital on Wednesday, November 10, 2004 at the age of 89 years. She was predeceased by her husband, Bill on March 10, 1999. Doris will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by her family; daughter Norma Jane Roger and husband Bruce of Winnipeg, daughter Donna Anderson and husband Brian of Salt Lake City, Utah; grandson Scott Roger and wife Kathy of Winnipeg; granddaughter Andrea Roger of Winnipeg; grandsons Greg and Geoff Anderson of Vancouver, B.C.; great-grandchildren James, Dakotah, Rebecca, Jacob and Natasha; as well as many nieces and nephews and extended families. Doris was born in Griswold, Manitoba on December 21, 1914. She moved to Thunder Bay, Ontario in 1937 to enter nurses training at McKellar General Hospital where she met Bill who was a patient at the time. Doris and Bill were married in 1941. Working as a pediatric nurse, Doriss dedication to her profession and love of children was evident. In 1953 they were transferred to Winnipeg with their young family. Nursing continued to be an important part of her life. She made a difference in many lives working on the polio ward at the municipal hospitals. During these years, Doris was an active member of Harrow United Church, where she made many lifelong friends. For many years Doris enjoyed the family cottage on Lake Winnipeg, a haven for family and friends. In May of 1998, Bill and Doris moved to the Wellington where they enjoyed many months together with their new friends. After Bills death, Doris continued to cherish her time with her Wellington family. She was an avid bridge player and an enthusiastic participant in numerous social activities. People were immediately drawn to her generosity, compassionate nature and strength. She considered her family and vast network of friends to be her greatest treasures. Her words of wisdom and encouragement will be remembered by young and old alike. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 16, 2004 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave, Winnipeg, Manitoba. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, Suite 200 - 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3L 0K6. The family wishes to thank Dr. Hayward, the Rev. Teresa Moysey, our many valued friends, Home Care support and the wonderful staff at the Wellington for their years of genuine kindness and support.
