Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCATHERINE CAMERON FRASER PATERSON Je Suis Prest Catherine passed away peacefully with her family present on Tuesday, November 9, 2004 at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre. Mom was born in Toronto, ON on January 6, 1924 and at a very early age moved to Glasgow, Scotland with her parents where she spent the next several years, during which time the family welcomed the birth of Margaret before returning to reside in Toronto. Upon the familys return, Catherine was educated in Toronto. Throughout the Second World War Catherine worked at De Havilland Aircraft Company followed by employment at McMillan Binch Barristers & Solicitors in Toronto where she met and later married John Norman Paterson who was articling at the firm. In 1947, Catherine and John moved to Fort William, ON (Thunder Bay) where John was involved with the family business, N.M. Paterson & Sons Limited. They resided on Vickers Street and subsequently, McGregor Avenue. While raising her family, Catherine was active with the McKellar General Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, the I.O.D.E. and her cherished "Knitting Club". In later years, Catherine served with distinction in and was a decorated member of The Orders of St. John and St. Lazarus of Jerusalem. More recently, she served with great pride as the Honourary Lt. Colonel of the Lake Superior Scottish Regiment. Catherine will be greatly missed by her many friends in both Thunder Bay and Palm Beach, Florida where she spent the winter months. Mom cherished the memories of travelling the world with John, sailing, duck and partridge hunting, gardening, golf, art and pottery. Catherine was predeceased by her parents Robert McKenzie and Helen Ann Sclater Fraser; her husband John Norman Paterson (1981) and her granddaughter Alexandra Cameron Paterson. She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law Margaret and John Williams and their family; her children, Elizabeth (Libby) Paterson White (Brian) of Winnipeg, Margaret Paterson Dunn (Greg) of Santa Cruz, California, Robert (Sharon), Donald (Lori) and Alexander (Kim) of Thunder Bay. She is lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Christopher (Toronto), JoAnne (Cap-St.-Ignace, QC), Spenser and Judith (Winnipeg), Peter (Ratchaburi, Thailand), Catherine and Libby (Santa Cruz, CA), John, David, Stephen, Allan, Isabella, Maximilian, Sclater, Sam, Ann and Abby of Thunder Bay. As well, Catherine was the proud great-grandmother of Simon (Toronto) and Xavier (Cap-St.-Ignace) and she will be fondly remembered by her sisters-in-law, Joan Paterson Keyes (Ottawa) and Nancy Paterson MacFarlane (Montreal) and brother-in-law Donald S. Paterson (Winnipeg), along with many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church on Brodie Street in Thunder Bay South on Friday, November 12 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to St. John Ambulance are requested by the family in accordance with Catherines wishes.
