EDITH KORLAK Edith Korlak passed away at the Pinawa hospital on November 9, 2004 Edith was a very hard working and caring person who grew up on the family farm near Elma, Mb. In her early years she was a beautiful singer who sang in radio competitions with her sister, Caroline. They were noted for their wonderful harmonizing and singing a cappella. After completing school she attended Teachers College in Winnipeg. For many years she worked on the farm but she also enjoyed cooking as a profession. She was employed at the University of Manitoba Food Services for 25 years where she was also the secretary for their local union. Edith loved politics and was involved with campaigning for political parties and enumerating in Winnipeg. She was always busy cooking and cleaning for family gatherings and staying active. When she retired she returned to the farm life to enjoy her pets, gardening and working with her brother, Dan. She was very close to some of her nieces and thought of them as daughters. Above all else Edith loved helping her family; she was a caregiver for her mother and brothers and she made many trips to Rocanville Sk. to baby sit and in the process acquired new friends. She also made many friends in Winnipeg but one good friend, Jerry & family was always there for her. Edith was predeceased by her father Alex, mother Mary Jane, sisters Caroline Jones, Olive, brother Sam, brother-in-laws, Dave Jones, Hans Meyer, John Saik, and Bob Hardy. She is survived by her sisters Ann Meyer, Jane Saik, Isabelle Hardy, and brothers, Ed, Robert (Mary) and Dan Korlak. Edith liked happy endings so she would like everyone to remember the happy times as a celebration of her life. Cremation has taken place and a private service will be held at a later date. Wojciks Funeral Chapel of Winnipeg in care of arrangements.
