CECILE OLIVER Peacefully on November 10, 2004 at the Tudor House, in Selkirk, MB, after a lengthy illness, Cecile passed away at the age of 75 years. Born on November 27, 1928 at St. Norbert, MB, she was the seventh child of George and Rosalie Grandmont. She received her education at Brant Argyle School and Stonewall Collegiate. After grade 12 she taught school for 1 year in 1947 at Lake Francis, MB, where she met her future husband David Oliver. From 1948 to 1951 she was employed by Hudson Bay Co. Dave and Cecile were married on October 27, 1951. They spent their years together farming at Lake Francis, where they raised their family of seven children. Cecile spent 16 years as a leader for Woodlands 4 - H Club. She was a life time member of the Lake Frances Womens Institute. Cecile was a dedicated member of the original Lake Francis Community Club and was instrumental in the publishing of "Along the Mission Trail", The Lake Francis history book. She enjoyed playing cards, knitting, crocheting, gardening, dancing, curling and cooking. Her pumpkin and saskatoon pies were in great demand. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband David of 53 years; her children, Doug (Arlene), Sandy (Marcel), Barry (Eva), Bryan (Jane), Shelley (David), Kim (Mark), Bev (Corey) 19 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter; also to mourn her passing her brothers and sisters, Yvonne, Emil (Lydia), Raymond (Ethel), Lawrence (Irene), Florence (Walt) sisters-in-law, Darlene and Mary; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, George and Rosalie; brothers, Leo and Frank and brother-in-law Marcel. A special thank you to the staff at Tudor House, for their wonderful care and compassion for Cecile. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lake Francis Community Centre Inc., Box 36, Lake Francis, MB R0C 1T0. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m on Wednesday, November 17 at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., with visitation one half hour prior. Interment and reception will follow.
