Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANDREW DELMAR PENSTON At early dawn on Friday, November 12, 2004 Dad passed away at the Boyne Lodge in Carman, MB surrounded by the love of his wife and daughters. Dad leaves in loving memory his wife Irene; daughters, Sandra (Larry), Heather (Harry), Beverley (Lorne) grandchildren, Lisa (John), Janna (Greg), Timothy, Andrew, Sarah, Cameron; great-grandchildren, Davis, Julia, Jack and his sister Joan. Dad was born in Carman on July 13, 1924 and was raised in Elm Creek, MB. In November 1942 he joined the P.P.C.L.I. in Winnipeg and sailed overseas on the Queen Mary. He served in France and was injured on July 27, 1944 between Caen and Fille. After convalescing in England he was sent to Holland between Arnhem and Nymegen where he fought to liberate the Dutch. Dad returned home in December 1945 on the Queen Elizabeth. He met Irene Malmquist in Carman, MB and they were married in October 1946. Dad and Mom settled in Winnipeg where they raised their daughters. Dad maintained his connection to the Elm Creek area throughout his life. He loved the dear hearts and gentle people of his beloved hometown and never tired of greeting, meeting, and reminiscing with these treasured folk. In his heart Elm Creek did truly and ever remain his home. Dad was predeceased by his parents Ernest and Eliza and by his brother Jim. Dad enjoyed travelling and loved the adventure and memories of each trip. Many happy memories were made and shared at Dad and Moms cottage in the Lac du Bonnet area. In recent years Dad enjoyed planning and taking country drives and prairie picnics with our Mom. In 1995 he returned to Holland to be recognised by the people of Holland as a Canadian Liberator. He was a member of Acacia Lodge at the time of his passing and a past master of Crescent Lodge. Funeral service will be held from Grace St. Johns Church in Carman on Friday, November 19 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Brad Elliott officiating. Interment will take place in the Elm Creek Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Boyne Lodge, Box 1644, Carman, MB R0G 0J0.
