TAKANORI (TAK) SHIBATA Peacefully on November 8, 2004, Tak passed away at the age of 84 at the Kildonan Personal Care Home. Tak was born in Steveston, BC on December 27, 1919 and later lived in Japan for 10 years. Once he returned to Canada, he lived in Ocean Falls. During the War he relocated to Winnipeg, Sanford, Dryden and then moved back to Winnipeg when he married Kikue in 1953. Remaining to cherish his memory are his children, Doug, Gary (Karen), Karen Sands (Tom) and Sandra. He will also be forever remembered by his seven grandchildren, Jerad, Kara, Jessica, Michael, Mark, Matthew and Steven. Tak was predeceased by his wife Kikue who passed away on January 26, 2003. Tak loved the outdoors, especially fishing. He was an avid fisherman and loved his time at the family cottage at Jessica Lake in the Whiteshell. This is the place where his family congregated on weekends and where his fishing friends, Erik and Dorothy Nielsen exchanged many a fishing story of how the big one got away. The Lake was where Tak was the happiest and where Gichan (grandpa) taught his grandchildren how to boat and fish. His other favourite pastimes revolved around watching the Blue Jays, the Bombers and gardening. Tak was proud of his garden and would share his harvest with his friends. The family would like to send our sincere thanks and appreciation to Dr. Dirks and the staff of Kildonan Personal Care Home for their loving care. In accordance with Dads wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family celebration of life service took place in his honour on November 11 at the Manitoba Buddhist Church with Rev. Ulrich officiating. If friends so desire, donations in Taks memory may be made to the Trans Canada Trail or The Manitoba Buddhist Church.
