Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySOPHIE ROSE SHUMILAK Suddenly, on Wednesday, November 17, 2004 at her residence, Sophie Shumilak, aged 80 years of East Selkirk. Sophie was born in Belzec, Poland on March 28, 1924. In 1928 she immigrated to Canada with her family. She always reminisced about the voyage across the ocean and the whales. She married Anton Shumilak on May 8, 1943 and together they raised their three children on their farm in the Garson area. Her life revolved around her family, friends and community. She always welcomed all for a cup of coffee. Sophie was active in several organizations such as, The Altar Society and the Seniors Club of Garson but her greatest love was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. Her favourite pastimes were playing cards, doing puzzles and also being creative with her embroidery, gardening and cooking. She was predeceased by her husband Anton in 1987; her parents, Anna and Albert Komadowski; and brothers, Mike, Frank and Kasimer. Her memory will be forever remembered and cherished by her three children, Donald (Linda) and their children, Ian and Aaran; Rick (Bev) and their children, Jaimie and Andrew; and Marsha (Michael) and their children, Jay and Justin. She is also survived by her sister Jean Kuzminski; and brothers, Joe and John Komadowski. Prayers will be held on Sunday, November 21 at 7:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk. Funeral Mass wil be held on Monday, November 22 at 11:00 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Garson, MB with Father Sebastian Gacki officiating. Interment to follow in the Parish Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Society, 102-310 Broadway, Winnipeg, R3C 0S6. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
