PETER SWEDLO Peacefully on Wednesday, November 17, 2004, Peter Swedlo of Poplarfield passed away at the Arborg and District Health Centre, at the age of 76. Pete will be remembered by his wife of 50 years, Mary Bernice; his children, Sharron (Paul) Humeny, Sandy (Billy) Jonasson, Jim (Shirley), Joyce (Bill), Jack (Wendy), and Karen (Michael) Leochko; his grandchildren, Janice (Barrett), Jennifer (Les), Kalon and Connor, Blake and Johl, Jasper and Zak, Cory, Scott and Brent; his sisters, Nellie Swedlo, Pauline Zuk and Helen Semenuik; many nieces, nephews and countless friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Mike and Maria Swedlo; brothers, Joe, Walter and Steve and sisters, Minnie Kowalyk, Caroline Zorniak and Hattie Ledochowski. Pete was born on October 10, 1928 on the family farm in Skylake, MB and lived there until his death. He married Mary Bernice Emms in 1954 and they raised their six children on the same farm where he grew up. While they shipped cream, grew grain, raised beef, chickens and pigs, Pete always had a soft spot for horses and working in the garage. He was an avid hunter with lots of stories about the jumper who got away. Pete always enjoyed the company of family and friends, playing jokes on his grandchildren or having a drink with his buddies. Special thanks to Dr. Beukes, Dr. Greyvenstein and all of the staff at the Arborg Hospital for their care and compassion. As well, thank you to the doctors and staff from CancerCare Manitoba for their support through the past few months. A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 22 at Poplarfield Community Hall at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the Hamerlik Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Karl Emms, Ken Emms, Patrick Emms, Arnold Swedlo, Danny Swedlo and David Zuk. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Petes memory to CancerCare Manitoba.
