JOAN LOUISE RICHARDS Joan Louise Richards passed away, on Monday, November 15, 2004 at Minnedosa Hospital. She was born on March 28, 1922 in Minnedosa to Ben and Miriam Hopkins. Joan was raised in the Lakelet area and after the completion of grade 12, she worked on the family farm. Joan sewed all her life for her family and friends. She sewed many graduation dresses and hemmed many pants. Joan belonged to various organizations including Ladies Legion Auxiliary, Golden Ages Bowling League, Meals on Wheels and the Railroaders Womens Committee. Joan was an avid bowler and enjoyed teaching Sunday school at St. Marks Anglican Church. Recently, she received an award for all her work in collecting teddy bears, toys and knitting over 50 pairs of mitts and blankets that she donated to the Salvation Army to brighten many childrens Christmas mornings. Joan is survived by her daughters, Jean and Jack (Michael and Stuart), Erma and Phil Hoogervorst (Denise, Robert, great-grandson Alexander), Donna Richards; brother Hayward and Vera; and many nieces, nephews and other family members. She is predeceased by her loving husband Alex. A Ceremony to celebrate Joans life was held Thursday, November 18 at Memories Chapel. Rev. Tom Delgaty officiated. Urn Bearer was Joans brother Hayward Hopkins. Donations in memory of Joan may be made to Minnedosa Health Centre Palliative Care, P.O. Box 960, Minnedosa, MB R0J 1E0.
