GWENDOLINE EVELYN MINNIE ARMSTRONG (nee KEEFE) 1921 - 2004 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gwen Armstrong on Friday, November 19, 2004 at Golden Door Nursing Home where she resided for the past five months, at the age of 83 years. Predeceased in 1961 by husband Alexander and infant granddaughter in 1977. Gwen is survived by son Terry (Marilyn) daughter Wendy and daughter Colleen; grandchildren, Patrick (Kathleen), Laurie, Todd (Melissa), Gordon (Caroline), Michelle, Imron, Sofiata, Ishani, Rizal and great-grandchildren, Jessie and Briee. Also survived by sisters, Olive Keefe, Mavis Rogers and Wendy (Brian) Tucker in Bristol, England. Gwen was born in Bristol, England on November 18, 1921, where she met and married her husband on September 16, 1942. She served in the Timber Corps Womens Land Army during the Second World War. Gwen moved to Canada in 1944, where she raised her three children and after the death of her husband in 1961 started work at the Hospital Commission where she worked until her retirement in 1986. Gwen enjoyed her summers spent at Spruce Sands in Gimli and also enjoyed going to the Winser cabin at Lac Lu near Kenora, ON. The family would like to thank the staff of Golden Door and Victoria Hospital for the care she received while there. At her request cremation has taken place and there will be no formal service.
