Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVIOLET MARJORIE COUTTS (nee WEST) It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Violet Marjorie Coutts on November, 18, 2004 at the age of 73. Violets family was blessed to have cared for her in the comfort of her own home during the remaining weeks of her life. Vi was born on December 13, 1930 in Winnipeg where she spent her life. She married Gordon on November 19, 1949 and enjoyed many happy years with him. Violet began working at K-mart and it is there that she met lifelong friends, Diane and Grace. In 1973, she took a job at Canada Post and worked there (with her Posties) until her retirement. Violet had the soul of an artist and, over the years, expressed herself through painting and writing (just ask her many pen pals). Vi also enjoyed golf, bowling, cards, bingo, walks through St. Vital Park, and lunch with the girls. She was a fun-loving gal who valued relationships, time spent with family and friends were her greatest joys. Violets brand of kindness and caring were second to none. She was a remarkable women and will be dearly missed by all who knew her. "As long as there is someone who loves us, we will remain alive. Memories make us immortal. In truth, love will outlive even memories." Leo F. Buscaglia. Left to honour her memory are her husband of 55 years, Gordon; and her children, Linda, Dan (Doreen), Gordon (Bonnie), John (Dianne), Glenda (Derek) and Kathy (Rick). She will also be dearly remembered by her grandchildren, Candace (Jodi), Laurie (James), Cindy (Jon), Holly (Glen), Brad, Steve, Lindsay, Melanie, Tyler, Kristyn, Jenna, Justin, Kelsey, and Carly; and great-granddaughter Alex. Also left to cherish her memory are sisters, Shirley (Jim) of Winnipeg Beach, Phyllis, Helen (Jack), Caroline (Art) brother Ron; and cousin Ileane all of Victoria BC; half-sister Dora of Red Deer; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Eric Lee of Calgary, Joe (Alice) of Stonewall, Ann of Victoria; and many loving nieces and nephews. Violet was predeceased by brothers, Ernie (Pat) and John, and half-sister Phyllis, whom she will now be with. The family wishes to thank the wonderful nurses at WRHA Palliative Care for their support. We sincerely thank Dr. Kevin Coates for visiting Vi at home, it meant so much to her. A celebration of Violets life will be held on Tuesday, November 23 at 6:00 p.m. at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivary Blvd. In lieu of flowers please feel free to donate to Cancer Society, Palliative Care Manitoba, Childrens Wish Foundation, or a charity of your choice.
