Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLUCY DUKE Peacefully on November 19, 2004, Lucy Duke (nee Hopkinson) passed away at the Kildonan Personal Care Centre. Lucy was born in Huddersfield, Yorkshire, England on January 25, 1911. She came to Canada with her parents as an infant and settled in Winnipeg. On October 23, 1937, she married Jack who predeceased her after 64 years of marriage on January 11, 2002. Lucy will be sadly missed by her daughter Norma (Dennis) Thibault; sons, Gordon (Nina), Jim (Carole), David (Marian) as well as 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Hilda Greenhalgh, Anne Hawley, Kay Hale; and brothers, Jack and Bill Hopkinson. Lucy was very involved in the Church, singing in the choirs at St. James and Transcona United with husband Jack and serving for several years as Secretary at Gordon King Memorial. After raising her children, Lucy re-entered the work force, working for several years with Office Overload and later the Winnipeg Hearing Aid Centre. After their retirement, Lucy and Jack were fortunate to be able to travel abroad as well as enjoy many bus excursions. Lucy spent her last four years at the Kildonan Personal Care Centre where she was able to continue to enjoy her love of music and singing as well as the many visits with her extended family. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 23 at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kildonan Personal Care Centre, 1970 Henderson Hwy. The family would like to express our sincerest thanks to the staff of KPPC for all the care and attention given to Lucy, especially the last few months.
