Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryE. JOAN ZIEGLER (DAFOE) Joan, 80, passed away peacefully November 14, 2004 in Victoria, B.C. Joan was predeceased by her parents E.E. and Ruth Dafoe, and her brother Michael. She was the first grandchild of John Wesley Dafoe, past Editor-in-Chief of the Winnipeg Free Press. Joan will be dearly missed by her husband of 50 years, William, her daughter Anne Adams, and her son Scott. Joan was born in Winnipeg and spent many enjoyable summers as a child at the family cottages at Ponemah Beach with her cousins and kin, giving her fond memories to the end. After completing a B.A. at the University of Manitoba (46), Joan attended McGill receiving her degree in Library Science (48). In 1952, Joan embarked on the Empress of France to Europe, where aboard ship she met her husband to be, Bill. They were married in London, ON on Christmas Eve in 1953. Joan, a respected member of the U.W.O. Library for over 25 years, retired as Head of Serials Cataloguing in 1989, to pursue her interest in travel, theatre, cooking and crosswords. Thanks to Dr. Cox and Dr. Fisher, and all the caregivers, and friends who assisted her with compassion. There will be no service by request. Donations will be gratefully accepted by the Victoria Hospice Society, 1952 Bay St., Victoria, BC V8R 1J8 or a charity of your choice.
