HARVEY MALCOLM BAKER On November 19, 2004 Harvey died at the Deer Lodge Centre at the age of 80 years. Harvey was predeceased by his wife Blanche; his parents, Theresa and Malcolm; his brother Albert; and his good friend Vic. In Winnipeg, Harvey started life humbly as the son of a door-to-door milkman. As a very small boy, Harvey cared for his fathers horse and soon learned to deliver milk from the wagon in the dark with a flashlight by himself. As a young man, Harvey served on the first Canadian-manned aircraft carrier in The Second World War. In 1944, the carrier was torpedoed off the coast of Norway by a Nazi U-Boat. After a dangerous five-day journey, the carrier finally reached the coast of Scotland safely. In 1952, Harvey joined Winnipeg Hydro where he worked until his retirement. During this time he served as shop steward and in the 60s was elected to the Winnipeg District Labour Council. Harvey also served for a term on the Winnipeg School Board. Per Harveys wishes, there will be no funeral service. Donations may be made to the War Amputations of Canada, 113 Marianne, Winnipeg, MB. NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200
