Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN FRANK HERTZ 1931 - 2004 With heavy hearts we announce the untimely passing of our incredibly special, loving and caring Husband, Dad and Poppa. On November 20, 2004 Dad passed away with his loving family by his side. He leaves behind the love of his life, his eternal soulmate, Phyllis, with whom he celebrated 50 wonderful years of marriage on July 3, 2004. Dad also leaves to mourn his loving children, Diane Nimik, Charlene Hertz (Jake Tremblay), Marianne (Jim) Petaski, John (Debby) Hertz. His grandchildren who were his pride and joy, Kyle, Cory, Deanna, Jadine and Blake. John was predeceased by his parents, Albert and Apolonia; his sister Josephine; his stepsisters, Mary and Julia and his stepbrothers, Frank, Rudolph and Walter. He will remain close to the hearts of all his family and friends. Dad was born in a community outside of Barrie, ON. The family moved to Renwer, MB and then to East Selkirk. Mom and Dad married in 1954 and made their home in Selkirk. Dad was a longstanding and dedicated employee of the Manitoba Rolling Mills where he became an electrical supervisor and retired after 43 years of service. His loving, caring and gentle demeanor towards others was extraordinary. He loved being with his family and friends. He enjoyed travelling, camping, curling, reading and helping others. His love for life was contagious. He will always be lovingly remembered and sadly missed. Honourable pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Kyle, Cory and Deanna Nimik and Jadine and Blake Hertz and lifelong friends, Mike Oleksiuk and Steve Skrepich. The family would like to thank Dr. Lee, the Cardiac team and especially the nursing staff in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit at the St. Boniface Hospital. We would also like to thank the nursing staff at the Selkirk General Hospital. Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, November 24 at 10:30 a.m. in the Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church, Selkirk with Fr. Boguslaw Wardzinski officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Johns memory to the S.I.C.U. Professional Education Fund, c/o St. Boniface Hospital, 409 Tache Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2H 2A6. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
