PHILLIP THOMAS NEWTON 1957 - 2004 Phillip Thomas Newton, beloved husband of Marilyn Newton, of Airdrie passed away suddenly on Saturday, November 20, 2004 at the age of 47 years. Phillip was born on August 3, 1957 in Blackpool, Lancashire, England. He immigrated to Canada at a young age, growing up in Brandon, MB. Phillip married Marilyn on September 23, 1989. He was employed for over twenty years with Pepsi Cola in Winnipeg, MB, until being transferred to Calgary in 1993 and taking up residence in Airdrie. Phillip was active in his community, especially in hockey, either as a scorekeeper or just being a fan. He was very involved in his childrens activities, giving selflessly of his time to be with his family. Camping trips to the Okanagan were one of Phillips favourite activities. Besides his loving wife, Marilyn, Phillip is survived by two sons, Kyle and Scott; a brother and sister-in-law, Grahame and Elaine Newton of Calgary; a sister Elizabeth Mudray and partner Rick Fontaine of Saskatoon, SK; two brothers-in-law, Michael Mudray of Brandon, MB, and Marty and Wendy Olson of Stonewall, MB. He is also survived by four nephews, Devin (Heather) of Winnipeg, MB, Sean (Lindsey) of Calgary, and Kristopher and Bradley Olson of Stonewall, MB; and two nieces, Tara (Steve) of Vancouver, BC, and Aimee of Naniamo, BC. Phillip will also be dearly missed by his family in England - cousins Shirley, Lynn and husband Andrew Rutter, and his Uncle Harold and Aunt Pat. Phillip was predeceased by his parents Violet and Walter. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAYS Airdrie Chapel (300 Towerlane Drive) on Tuesday, November 23, 2004 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at the Airdrie Town & Country Centre (275 Jensen Dr., Airdrie) on Thursday, November 25 at 10:30 a.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Airdrie Minor Hockey Safe and Caring fund.
