JOHN G. PATERSON September 2, 1921 - November 21, 2004 Peacefully, with his family at his side, John passed away on Sunday November 21, 2004 at the Victoria General Hospital. John was predeceased by his first wife, Doreen; brother, Archie; sisters, Nancy Thain and Elizabeth Leighton. He leaves to mourn his passing and to cherish his memory his loving wife of 30 years, Diane; sons, John Gary; Richard (Marlene) his grandchildren, Matthew and Suzanne; brother-in-law, Doug (Adie) Mathais; sister-in-law, Jan (Louis) Nemeth and their son, Louis (Lee). He is also survived by numerous other relatives and good friends. John will be fondly remembered for his strong sense of family and how important they were to him. He has shared with them his love of golf, curling and many other sports. The outdoors were special to him but not as important as spending time with his family and friends. They will remember his wonderful sense of humour and the laughter and joy he brought to everyone. For 42 years, John worked for Winnipeg Hydro before retiring in 1981. Over the years John enjoyed curling at the Civic Caledonian and Deer Lodge Curling Clubs and golfing at the Pine Ridge Golf Club. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held Thursday, November 25 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. A reception will follow. The family extends a special thank you to the nursing staff on 3 South at the Victoria General Hospital for the wonderful care given to John during his stay there. Flowers are gratefully declined.
