SHIRLEY ARLENE DRYBURGH (SCOTT)
Born: Feb 10, 1935
Date of Passing: Nov 24, 2004
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySHIRLEY ARLENE DRYBURGH (nee SCOTT) February 10, 1935 - November 23, 2004 With profound sadness, the family announces the passing of Arlene Dryburgh at the Tuxedo Villa Personal Care Home in the early morning hours of Tuesday, November 23, 2004. Mourning her loss are Allan, her husband of 34 wonderful years of marriage; her daughter Andrea Tench of Crossfield, AB and step-children, Kent and Jamie Dryburgh and Carolyn Knight, all 3 living on Vancouver Island and her brother Boyd "Bud" Scott of Winnipeg. Arlene was predeceased by her parents, Herbert Metcalfe Scott and Helen Louise Scott, nee Boyd. Arlene was born in Rapid City, MB and received her early education in Ninette and Shilo, MB. Following school, her initial desire was to become a nurse but was frustrated when she contacted Polio while she was in training. Even though she never graduated with her class, she continued a life-long friendship with many of her classmates. She had an uncanny ability to remember the names, addresses, birthdays and anniversaries of almost every one of her relatives, friends and even extended to many patients and families of her former employers. Even though she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1974 she participated in life to the fullest extent possible, never losing her sense of humour and continuing to put other peoples needs ahead of her own. Arlenes passing will leave a hole in the hearts of her multitude of relatives and friends, spread from coast to coast across Canada. To know her was to love her for she was one of the gentlest, kindest and most thoughtful persons imaginable. The family would like to acknowledge their appreciation of the many fine staff of the Tuxedo Villa who went out of their way to extend exceptional care and concern for Arlenes well being. A celebration of Arlenes life will be held on Monday, November 29 at 1:30 p.m. in the Edward J. Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald St. Flowers are gratefully declined. Expressions of sympathy would be appreciated through donations in Arlenes memory to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada, 400-141 Bannatyne Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3B 0R3.
