LEONARD DENISON McMURRAY Leonard Denison McMurray died peacefully on Sunday, November 21, 2004, at St. Boniface Hospital, Winnipeg at the age of 86. He was the only child of Douglas and Nora McMurray. Leonard is survived by Grace, his loving wife of 61 years; and their four children, Barbara Kirk (Brian) of Winnipeg, Shanly Donahue (Jack) of Calgary, Douglas (Jola) of Mexico, and Suzanne of Vancouver; his dear grandchildren, James (Rebecca), Graham and Andrew of Winnipeg, and Kate, Ashley, Meghan and Christie of Calgary. Leonard served in the Royal Canadian Navy from 1940 - 1945. He retired with the rank of Lieutenant Commander, later serving as National President of the Navy League of Canada from 1970 - 1972. He was a graduate of St. Johns Ravenscourt School, and later served as Chairman of the Board. He joined Investors Syndicate of Canada in 1947 and retired in 1983 as President of Investors Syndicate Realty. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and "The Lodge", and was a director on the Board of Ducks Unlimited Canada for many years. He served his church faithfully, and was a founding Director of St. Georges Memorial Fund Inc. He enjoyed golf with his many friends, and will be sadly missed by "The Boys of Friday". Leonard was a kind and gentle man who will be remembered with love by all who knew him. A special thanks to Dr. John Rabson, and to the nursing staff on 5B at the St. Boniface Hospital. A memorial service in honour of Leonard will be held on Thursday, November 25 at 3:00 p.m. at St. Georges Church Crescentwood, 168 Wilton St., Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Georges Memorial Fund Inc.
