MICHAEL "MIKE" ALEXANDER MAREK 1929 - 2004 It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Mike Marek, on Wednesday, November 24, 2004, at the age of 75 years, of Beausejour, MB. Mike leaves to mourn his loving wife Jean of 50 years of marriage; sons, Patrick (Loretta), Bruce (Kathleen) and Jeff (Nancy) daughter Michelle Drysdale (Mark). Grandpa will be missed by his grandchildren, Jon, Tim and Catherine Kozody, Krysten and Kyle Marek, and Amanda and Kayla Marek. Mike will always be in the thoughts of his brothers and sisters, Kay Chorney, John Marek (Helen), Joe Marek (Wilma), Emily Mazur (Ed), Jean Prowse, Stan Marek, Joyce Corbett (Arley), Ed Marek (Vi) and Ken Marek (Phyllis) as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, George Marek and Rose (Bukoski) as well as the early passing of his daughter Judy. Born at the family farm near Tyndall, MB on September 19, 1929, Mike was one of the good guys. His humour and zest for life will stay with all of us. After a few years of working as a miner and a few years of farming, Mike worked for close to 40 years as a carpenter. It is difficult to find a mile of road in the Beausejour area that he hadnt built something. Upon his retirement, Mikes passion turned to the outdoors. If he wasnt home, depending on the time of year, youd probably find him either hunting or fishing or picking berries, mushrooms or hazelnuts. It was a full time job, and Lord knows that there will be a bumper crop in all of the above in the coming years. Prayers will be held on Monday evening, November 29 at 7:00 p.m. in St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, Beausejour, MB. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Tuesday morning, November 30 at 10:30 a.m. also in the church with Rev. Fr. Owen Steeves presiding. Interment will follow in the St. Mary Roman Catholic Parish Cemetery. "Whether a husband, a father, a brother, A grandfather or a friend, With a smile and a tear, You will always hold a special place In our hearts."
