Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMIKE BODNAR It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Mike Bodnar on Thursday, November 25, 2004 at the Dauphin Regional Health Centre at the age of 85 years. Mike was born in Moose Bay, MB on October 14, 1919. He attended Moose Bay School where he completed Grade 8. He worked at various jobs and helped on the family farm until he joined the army in 1941. After the war ended, Mike met Katherine Kicakewych and they were married in 1950. Following their marriage, Mike purchased land at East Bay and they began farming. Mike spent many years farming, ranching and diamond drilling. Mike and Katy spent a lot of time together playing bingo in their later years. Mike became a resident of the Dr. Gendreau Memorial Personal Care Home in June of 2000 and was always very grateful for the care that he received. The staff enjoyed his friendly manner and his sense of humour. Mike was always friendly to everyone that he met. He was always there to help his neighbours and worked very hard to support his family. He will be sadly missed. Mike was predeceased by his wife Katherine in June of 2001; his sister Katherine Tityk of McCreary; and his brother John Bodnar of Rorketon. He leaves to mourn his passing and cherish many fond memories; his sister Mary Pich of Dauphin; his five sons, Peter and wife Darlene of Winnipeg, Joe and wife Arlene of Teulon, Walter of Ste. Rose du Lac, Nick and wife Joy of Ste. Rose du Lac, and Tony and wife Evelyn of Rorketon; his four daughters, Olga and partner Brian of Dresden, ON, Nellie and husband William Linden of Winnipeg, Sylvia and husband Dan Lapointe of Winnipeg and Mary and husband Vince Larsen of Calgary, AB. There are 20 grandchildren, his sister-in-law Annie Bodnar of Rorketon along with nieces, nephews and extended family members. Prayers will be offered on Tuesday, November 30 at 7:00 p.m. in the Ste. Rose Memorial Chapel. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, December 1 at 10:00 a.m. from the Saints Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, Rorketon, Rt. Rev. Msgr. Mitrat Michael Buyachok will officiate with the interment to follow in the Weiden Ukrainian Catholic Parish Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be, Nicholas Bodnar, Matthew Bodnar, Metro Bodnar, Roman Tityk, Brian Johnson, and Chris Lapointe. All of Mikes friends are to consider themselves as honorary pallbearers. Should friends so desire, memorial donations may be made in memory of Mike to the Dr. Gendreau Memorial Personal Care Home, Box 420, Ste. Rose du Lac, MB, ROL 1SO, or to the charity of ones choice.
