MARTHA ROBERTSON CHEADLE (nee SHEPHERD) Peacefully and with sadness, we announce the death of Martha on Sunday, November 28, 2004 at the Charleswood Care Centre at the age of 91 years and 11 months. She is survived by her daughter Elizabeth (Paul) and their children, Lisa (Brad), Sean and Tricia (Brian) her son Grant (Susan) and their children, Adam, David and Colin; as well, she is survived by her precious great-grandson Conor, who was her pride and joy. Martha was predeceased by her husband Tom in June, 1986; her infant son Wesley in 1943; and her parents, Tom and Martha Shepherd. Martha was born in Winnipeg on December 18, 1912 and since 1929 lived most of her life in St. Vital. For many years she was an employee of the Winnipeg Free Press. Since 1947, Martha was an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 16 and also an associate member since 1973. She was a former President of the Auxiliary and secretary for several years, a member of IWVA Ladies Auxiliary, Sons of Scotland (Dame Isabell Camp), as well as a former member of the Canadian Daughters League 54. In compliance with Marthas wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. Interment will take place at a later date in a family plot in Elmwood Cemetery. Our family wishes to thank Dr. Ian Maharaj, who was so caring; as well as Kathy, Lindsay, John, Patti and all the care givers at Charleswood Care Centre for their excellent care and compassion shown to Martha.
