ANTONINA (ANTONIA, TONIA) SAMILA (nee KYTSENKO) On Sunday, November 28, 2004, our beloved mother, baba, and wife, passed away peacefully at Holy Family Nursing Home, surrounded by the love of her family. Mom will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her daughter Lesia Johns (Dave) grandchildren, Daniel and Laura; husband Teodor (Fedya) and much family in Ukraine. She was predeceased by her parents, Volodymer and Anna; infant daughter Nina; and many family members in Ukraine, most recently her sister Domka on November 19, 2003. Mom was born July 8, 1915 in the village of Hlopyanuku, Ukraine. Her life was filled with much hardship. Mom witnessed and survived the horrors of the Great Famine-Genocide of 1932-33 in which millions perished. Then the Second World War brought further ordeals, as she was taken into forced labour by the Nazi regime. With her steadfast faith and Gods grace, she survived and came to Canada in 1951 with her husband to start a new life. Mom devoted her life to taking care of her family. Her greatest joy were her grandchildren Daniel and Laura. She enjoyed them when they were little, and was very proud of the young man and woman they now are. Mom was a wonderful cook and loved to prepare delicious meals for family and friends. In the summertime, picking blueberries and wild mushrooms was a favourite pastime. She was also quite the conversationalist and storyteller. As her health declined, and her eyesight and hearing faltered, Holy Family Nursing Home became her new home. Now she is truly home with the Lord. The family would like to express sincerest thanks to Dr. T. Babick and the staff of St. Marys ward for their loving, compassionate care, especially to ensure she was comfortable in her final days. Prayers will be held on Wednesday, December 1 at 8:00 p.m. at Sts. Vladimir and Olga Cathedral, 115 McGregor St. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Thursday, December 2 at 10:00 a.m. also at the Cathedral with Rev. Fr. Mikhail Kouts officiating. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations in Moms memory may be made to Holy Family Nursing Home. Forever Remembered, Love You, Mama Vichnaya PamYat CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
