Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOSEPHINE CATHERINE SMITH In loving memory of our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Josephine (Jo) Smith, who peacefully left us on Sunday, November 28, 2004 at the age of 89 years. She was predeceased by her husband Edward in 1991, by her brother and four of her sisters. She is survived by three sons, Dennis (Anne), Bill, Allan (Pat) six grandsons; one granddaughter; six great-grandsons; and one great-granddaughter; her sisters, Marge and Nonie. Josephine married Ed in 1939 in Winnipeg, then moved to Rainy River to start their life together. In 1959 they returned to Winnipeg. Josephine worked in retail and became a very active member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Transcona Legion, serving as president and past president, and was also active at St. Joseph the Worker Church. In 1993 she moved to 1660 Henderson Hwy. where she enjoyed all the activities of the Social Club and also joined the Red Hat Society. Josephine loved to travel with family and friends, usually by rail or car, across Canada, Europe, United States and Hawaii. Her family always came first and large family celebrations were her favourite times. The family wish to express sincere thanks to the Palliative Care staff of Unit 1, 5th Floor, Seven Oaks for the care and compassion extended to our mother. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations made to the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation, 301-352 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3B 2H8, would be gratefully appreciated. Memorial service to be held on Thursday, December 2 at 1:00 p.m. at the Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day St. with Fr. Richard Machura officiating. Burial to follow at the Transcona Cemetery, beside her husband Edward. TRANSCONA FUNERAL CHAPEL in care of arrangements.
