THEODORE STRANGE Theodore Stencel Llewelln Strange was born at the family farm at Greenridge on September 2, 1910. He then lived at Carlowrie with his family until his teen years. At that time he moved to Greenridge to live with his uncle Herbert Davison so that he could continue his education at the Greenridge School. During those years, he did many things to earn some spending money. He and his brother Clifford dug Seneca root and raised chickens. He worked for farmers at any job available. He worked with his uncle Bert on the farm until Berts death at which time Theo took over the farm. In the early 1950s his cousin Edith Thompson came to the farm to keep house for Bert and Theo and remained with Theodore until his death. Theo loved to putter and was always happy taking things apart and putting them back together again. He enjoyed the challenge of constructing things that could much more easily have been purchased. He taught himself to play the violin, guitar and organ. Theo was active in the community. He was secretary of the Forresters, served on the Greenridge Pioneer Hall committee, Greenridge Cemetery committee and farmers union. He was always ready to lend a helping hand to a neighbour in need. Theo died Monday, November 29, 2004. He is survived by his cousin and companion Edith Thompson; one sister Dorothy (Floyd) Shelby; one brother-in-law Dave Hodgson; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his brother Clifford; sisters, Violet Shelby, Frances Hodgson, Kathleen Lutomski. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 1 at 2:00 p.m. at the Greenridge United Church. Interment at Greenridge Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Greenridge Cemetery Association. Arrangements by: Birchwood Funeral Chapel Steinbach, MB1-204-346-1030 Winnipeg, MB1-204-667-1030
