JAMES BECK January 1920 - November 2004 On November 29, 2004, James Beck went to be in the presence of his Lord. Left missing him are his wife of 52 years, Ethel (nee Davie) his children, Robert Beck and Beryl Baldwin (Allan) the lights of his life, his grandchildren, Joanna and Josiah Baldwin; sisters, Eleanor Beck and Nancy Brisebois (Alf) as well as his brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Bill Rankine, Neil Rankine and Hugh Rankine; and his sister, Fanny Swan. Jim was a man of peace. In 1938, he joined the Queens Own Cameron Highlanders and served for the duration of the Second World War. When he came home, he worked at Canada Post until his retirement, after which he went to work for Reed Stenhouse. He finally retired in 1986. Jim was also a man of faith. He lived out his Christianity daily. He was a truly godly example of a "servant" to all who witnessed his life. He was willing to do whatever needed to be done, quietly and without recognition. We would like to thank the nurses and doctors of both Concordia and St. Boniface Hospitals, as well as the ambulance attendants, who treated Jim with both dignity and respect, for the compassion you showed. We deeply miss you, husband, dad, grandpa, brother, but we look forward to being with you again one day. Funeral to take place on Saturday, December 4 at 1:00 p.m. at Church of the Rock, 1397 Buffalo Pl., Winnipeg. Reception to follow.
