Dirk was born in Zutphen, the Netherlands, and immigrated to Canada in 1952, settling in Winnipeg. He was predeceased by his sons, William and Charles; his brothers, Hermanus and Antoine; and his sister Elsje. He also leaves his brothers in the Netherlands, Bert, Lex, Seger, Jan, and his sister Truus, in Ontario. Dirk was a lifelong member of Covenant Christian Reformed Church and was employed by Manitoba Telecom Service for 37 years until his retirement in 1990. He will be remembered for his sense of humour and love of life, especially by his grandchildren who held a special place in his heart. A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, December 3, at 3:00 p.m. at Covenant Christian Reformed Church, 653 Knowles, with Rev. Bill Tuininga officiating. A reception will follow.
