She was born in Russia on October 10, 1905 and came to Canada with her family in 1929, settling in Starbuck, MB. She was predeceased by her father Gottlieb, and her mother Rosina; eight brothers and two sisters, Emma, Elise, Fritz, Peter, Arnold, Siegfried, Gottlieb, Otto, Erwin and Emil. The youngest brother Walter still resides in Starbuck. Many nieces and nephews as well as two sisters-in-law, Louise and Evelyn survive her. Frieda had to leave home at an early age due to the depression. She was a housekeeper for many years with various prominent families in Winnipeg. One of her most cherished family was the Abbotts, and especially Elizabeth Abbott (Scott) and William Abbott. After retiring she enjoyed her lovely suite on Nassau Street. Her sister Emma lived near by. Frieda and her sisters enjoyed traveling to many places, especially to Switzerland to visit friends and relatives. Frieda was 99 and could tell many interesting stories of all the changes during her lifetime. She was a life long member of the Lutheran Church and had an unwavering faith. Lately she spoke about going home to her eternal life with Jesus. May she rejoice, as her wish has been granted. After nearly a century Frieda will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Thanks to all the staff at Tuxedo Villa for their care and kindness. Viewing will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Starbuck on Friday, December 3, from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. (with viewing from 1:00 p.m.), Saturday, December 4 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Ron Vert officiating.
