FRANCIS WALLACE
Date of Passing: Oct 23, 2004
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFRANCIS WALLACE McCHEYNE Suddenly, on October 23, 2004, in Vancouver, our D.O.D. (dear old dad) and grampa, Francis Wallace, passed away. Born in Miniota in 1924, Wally grew up in Winnipeg, joining the Queens Own Cameron Highlanders, and then the Navy in 1942, landing on Normandy Beach on D-Day. He was employed by the Winnipeg Police Service for 29 years and was a member of the Winnipeg Police Pipe Band. Wally was predeceased by his parents Elizabeth and Fred; my mother Erna and stepmother Joan. He is survived by his companion Betty Donaldson of Vancouver; his son and daughter-in-law, Wally and Linda; and grandchildren, Michael, Devyn and Reegan; sisters, Mary Barfield and Peggy Merrick; brothers, Bill (Bev), Jim (Marlyn) and Dave (Helen) and numerous nieces and nephews. Dads greatest joy were his grandchildren. He delighted in hearing about Michael and Devyns academic and athletic achievements and Reegans (grampas Jackie Chan) success in karate. His love for them and their love for him knew no boundaries, despite the distance in miles. His love for us was evident in the easy rapport and joking manner he had with us. He was always there when needed, no questions asked. We will, and do, miss him terribly, and know that he will always be watching over us. Good-bye D.O.D. We will always love and miss you. At dads request, cremation has taken place and no memorial service will be held.

My thoughts and prayers are with Linda McCheyne. I met Reegan's former fellow high school graduating classmate, Angelina, who used to work at Mona Lisa Ristorante Italiano while I was employed there, at a movie shoot a couple of weeks ago. Ms. Alberto worked on the "sets" of the movie "Champions" when I was cheering on a basketball game as an "extra". - Posted by: Special Olympics athlete (Loves to socialize) on: Dec 24, 2021
