DENISE GIRARDIN (nee GRATTON) Peacefully, with family by her side, Denise passed away at the Foyer Valade on Friday, December 3, 2004 at the age of 92 years. Denise leaves to mourn her son Claude (Diane) of La Salle, her daughter Louise Anderson (Darrell Williamson) of Calgary, and her son Luc of Winnipeg. She also leaves behind her future - her two grandsons, Marcel Anderson of Calgary and Michel Girardin (Tracey Pitre) of Beausejour, and her sister Jeanne Leckie of Treherne. She was predeceased by her husband Emile in 1986; by her parents; her brothers, Ferdinand, Hilaire and Noel; and her sisters, Angelina and Hortense. Denise was born on December 7, 1911 in Sainte-Agathe, to Ferdinand and Marie-Louise Gratton. She graduated from St. Marys Academy, took one year of "Ecole Normale" and began her teaching career in South Junction, followed by Sainte-Elizabeth, College St-Pierre, Otterburne and finally ending her career of 25 years of teaching in La Salle. There she met the love of her life, Emile Girardin, a farmer. They married on October 3, 1944, raised three children and farmed the area for over 40 years. The family heartfully wishes to thank the staff at Catherine Place where she resided for seven years and the caring staff at Foyer Valade where she spent the last two years. As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations in Denises memory may be made to Foyer Valade, 450 River Rd., Winnipeg, MB R2M 5M4 or the St. Amant Foundation, 440 River Rd., Winnipeg, MB R2M 3Z9. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 7 at the St. Hyacinthe Roman Catholic Church in La Salle at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. John McKenzie officiating. Viewing will begin at 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Pallbearers will be Michel Girardin, Marcel Anderson, Darrell Williamson, Denis Gratton, Norbert Girardin and Ron Girardin. Interment of the cremated remains will take place at a later date in La Salle, MB.
