SUSAN DUECK (nee NEUFELD) Susan Dueck, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother went to be with her Lord and Saviour on Saturday, December 4, 2004. She passed away peacefully at the age of 83 at the Misericordia Health Centre. Susan was predeceased by her husband Nicholas Dueck; son Barry; and siblings, Katie, Helen, John and David. Susan will be lovingly remembered by her family, Hartley (Eva), Harvey (Helen), Rita (John), Beverly (Gerald) and Sylvia (Stanley) and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, David, Christopher, Andrew (Debbie, Scott and Carter), Allan (Leigh and Emily), Joel (Alison and Sarah), Stephanie (Troy), Ben, Diane (Tyson), Luke, Jeremy and Krysta. She is survived by sisters, Olga (Bill), Mary (Peter) many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Susan was born October 20, 1921 in southern Ukraine. She came to Canada at age two with her family, grew up in the Marquette area and was a lifelong resident of North Kildonan. She married her beloved Nick on August 25, 1946, went on to lovingly raise their children while building up the family business, Duecks Tomboy Store on Edison Ave. She was an avid gardener, enjoyed cooking, crafts, needlework and quilting, serving in her church, and volunteering for the Red Cross and Crisis Pregnancy Centre. Susans love for God and strong faith was evident in her life, always ready to give a helping hand. Susan and Nick were charter members of River East M.B. Church, Camp Arnes and most recently Eastview Community Church. Many happy times were spent with family and friends in their home, cottage and church. Susan will be missed by all whose lives she touched. Viewing will take place on Thursday, December 9 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Klassen Funeral Home. Funeral service will be on Friday, December 10 at 10:00 a.m. at Eastview Community Church, 3500 DeVries, with Pastors John Thiessen and Lorne Pearson officiating. Interment will be at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens, with a reception to follow. The family wishes to thank the staff at Misericordia Health Centre (C2), Concordia Hospital (N3E and N1N) and Kildonan Haus, and her home care workers for their kind care. Donations may be made to Eastview Community Church (building fund), Camp Arnes or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba.
