W. BRUCE GRIFFITH Passed away Friday, December 3, 2004 at Langley Memorial Hospital with family and friends at his side. Born in Roseisle, MB on June 5, 1922. Bruce was predeceased by brothers, Russell, Fred, Wilfred and sister Margaret. He leaves to mourn Patricia (Wes), grandsons, Cole and Clay; Ron (Lil), grandsons, Jason and Devon; Ed (Jane), grandchildren, Mamie, Ben, Angella and Jamie; brother Harold; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friend Shirley Swanson. Bruce served in the Second World War with the 48th Highlanders and was involved in campaigns in both Italy and Holland. After the war Bruce started Griffith Bros. Drilling Ltd. with brothers Russell and Harold in Bissett, MB. They expanded the operation into Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario and the Northwest Territories. Griffith Bros. Drilling sold to Bow Valley Industries in 1970. Bruce remained in the mining industry and worked for Cominco Exploration as manager of exploration drilling until his retirement. His professional career had taken him to many countries throughout the world. These experiences and the friendships that he made remained dear to him throughout his life. As a longtime resident of Lac du Bonnet, MB he was active in the community as a member of the Lions Club, Royal Canadian Legion Branch 164 and the Masonic Lodge. A special thank you to Dr. Karen Mason of Langley Memorial Hospital for her care during his illness. Funeral services will be held at St. Andrews United Church, 9225 Glover Rd. Fort Langley on Wednesday, December 8. Service will be at 11:00 a.m. with viewing from 10:00 to 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association would be deeply appreciated.
