LEONARD CHARLES KLINGBELL Len passed away December 5, 2004 at the Victoria Hospital after suffering a major stroke at his sisters home November 25. He was born and raised in Transcona. During the Second World War, he served as a pilot officer with the R.C.A.F. After his tour of duty he attended the University of Manitoba and graduated as an architect. In 1950 he moved to Edmonton to join the firm Campbell Patrick Hope. In the late 1950s he took over the firm and it became Leonard C. Klingbell & Associates. His specialty was schools and churches built in many parts of Alberta. He retired and closed his firm in 1989 and spent his time doing voluntary work. His priority was with the Oliver Community Group in the area where he lived. Through the many years in Edmonton he belonged to the Edmonton Light Opera Co. and appeared in many local productions. In 2001 he returned to live in Winnipeg to be closer to family and old friends. His love of theatre remained, and he attended Manitoba Theatre Centre, Prairie Theatre Exchange, Rainbow Stage and many touring company productions. He was a member of the Eagles Club and regularly attended Wednesday Bingo with his beloved aunt Myrtle Gordon and cousin Carol Lim. On August 22 the family held an 80th birthday party for him attended by everyone that was dear to him. The theme of the party was "Aged to Perfection" and he surely was. He is survived by his only sister Lorraine Burton (Bill) nephews, Grant Rodgers (Sharon), Jay Rodgers (Nicole) niece Lendre Kearns (King) and by his dearly loved great-nephews, Dustin and Steven Rodgers. Cremation has taken place and by request no service will be held. If so desired donations can be made to the Parkinson Society (Manitoba Division) or the Winnipeg Humane Society. Many grateful thanks to Dr. Prenoveault, nurses and staff at the Victoria Hospital for their wonderful care. Arrangements entrusted to: VOYAGE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORIUM 1531 Pembina Hwy. 284-7500
