ELEANOR FRIESEN On Monday, December 6, 2004 after a courageous fight with cancer, Eleanor (Ellie) of Grunthal, died at the age of 63 years. Mom was born December 10, 1940 to the late John A. and Helen Driedger. She was married to Jake N. Friesen July 23, 1961, her husband of 43 years. They started their life together living in Winnipeg and moved to Grunthal in 1966 to open a hog farm in Gnadenfeld. They started their roofing business in 1970 and built their house in 1973 where they have resided ever since. Throughout the years, Ellie worked at the Auction Mart, taught piano lessons, volunteered at the Menno Home and at the Self Help. Ellie worked with Jake in his roofing business, but spent her time mostly raising their children. You would often see her at all the various sporting events that her children and grandchildren played during the year. She loved that. She and Dad loved to go from event to event to watch or just spend time together at home. Mom was predeceased by her son Kurt Douglas Friesen, August 21, 1981, her father John A. Driedger on September 15, 2002 and her mother Helen Driedger on September 22, 2004. Mom was known to always be a positive influence and loving supporter to her husband, all of her children, grandchildren, family and friends. Her love knew no bounds. She had devoted many years to church with her gift of music, playing the piano and singing in the various choirs over the years. Her courageous battle with cancer in the last couple of years, was something that we can admire, she was an amazing woman. She was giving and gracious right to the end. Her strength and love of God only increased with each passing year. Besides her husband, Jake, she is survived by her three children and their families, Connie (Mike) Gauthier and children, Jade, Kaelyn, Casie and Brooke; Glenn (Karen) and children, Sean, Kirsten and Kayla; Wendy and daughter Loghan and many relatives and friends. When I am gone, remember I am with Jesus Then do not mourn because Ive passed away Life holds so many griefs and disappointments And will you cry because I did not stay Tis only for a spell we must be parted Not many years on earth to us are given And when our Saviour tells me you are coming Ill go with Him and welcome you to Heaven Grieve not because the eyes that looked upon you Shall never see your face on earth again Rejoice, because they looked upon the Saviour Who gave his life to ransom sinful men Weep not, because I walk no longer with you Remember, I am walking streets of gold Weep for yourself that you awhile must tarry Before the blessed Lord you may behold. The funeral service will be held at Grunthal Bergthaler Church on Thursday, December 9 at 2:00 p.m. Interment in the Grunthal Cemetery.
