RAYMOND WESLEY EVERETT HABING It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather Raymond Wesley Everett Habing on December 8, 2004. Predeceased by daughter Edith Anne; son-in-law Robert Anderson; mother and father-in-law Edith and Frank Cowham; sister-in-law Beatrice Poole; parents, Fred and Elizabeth; siblings, Lawrence, Gerald and wife Maude, Virgil, Norman, Floyd and wife Alice; brother-in-law Kitchener Wainman. Remaining to cherish his memory is his loving wife Blanche; his children, Patricia Anderson (Richard), Clifford (Margie), Will (Jackie), Brenda Veitch (Blaine). His grandchildren, Scott, Kim and Erin Anderson, Christopher Habing (Pam), Stacey Walterson (Mark), Brendan and Brittany Habing, Kari, Chelsey and Rylan Veitch; great-grandchildren, Taylor and Bruce; brothers, Mern (Anne), Leonard (Pearl) sisters, Violet Ward (Ross), June Wainman and many nieces and nephews. Dad was born on April 12, 1927. The youngest of 10 children, Ray grew up in the Hazelridge area. As a young man he enjoyed participating in hockey and baseball, as well as hunting and fishing with his brothers. Dad was a talented musician and loved to play the alto sax. On November 25, 1950 he married the love of his life Blanche and the two of them took over the family farm. Dad worked as a school bus driver and mechanic for the Transcona Springfield School Division for 23 years. He retired in 1987. Dad loved woodworking. His creations will long be cherished by all of our families. Love it or not, Dad was also great at doing household repairs and yard work. He took a lot of pride in his yard as he loved to work in the outdoors. Dad and Mom have done a lot of travelling over the years, especially since retirement. After Brenda took up permanent residence in Flin Flon, their mileage there alone probably matched Dads many years of driving for the school division. Dad spent many hours with his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren all of which he loved very much. Ray was an avid curler as well. A longtime member of the Hazelridge Curling Club, Ray teamed up with his family in his early curling years. With Blanche and his two young boys on his squad, Ray spent many a frigid night throwing rocks with his neighbours and friends. Ray later moved his curling talents to the Springfield Curling Club where he was a regular participant in club curling as well as many seniors playdowns and provincials. In the summer, Ray turned his recreational time towards golfing. He maintained many of his friendships that he had gained through curling. More recently he looked forward to his weekly golf outing with the gang. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life will take place on Saturday, December 11 at 10:00 a.m. at Green Acres Funeral Home, Hwy. #1 E. at Navin Road, with Rev. Wayne Larstone officiating. For those friends who wish, remembrances can be made through donation in memory of Ray to the Anola United Church, 741 Wieser Cres., Anola, MB R0E 0A0. It breaks our hearts to lose you, But you did not go alone, For part of us went with you, The day God called you home. Though your smile is gone forever, And your hand we cannot touch, We will never lose the memory, Of one we loved so much. Thanks for the loving years you gave us, The happy times we shared, We all pray that when you left us, You knew how much we cared. Our family chain is broken, And nothing seems the same, But as God calls us one by one, The chain will link again. We love you Ray, Dad, Grandpa, Great-Grandpa.
