Date of Passing: Dec 08, 2004
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryARNOLD LIEBRECHT Peacefully on December 8, 2004 at the Golden Links Lodge, in Winnipeg, Arnold was called home to be with the Lord. He leaves to mourn his beloved wife Elsie (nee Starger) and daughter Fay; son-in-law Larry Stuart of Winnipeg; grandchildren, Kristi Cumming (Derek) of Winnipeg, Kym Galloway (Winston) of Toronto, and Michael Stuart (Kristen) of Canmore, AB; great-grandchildren, Meredith and Emily Cumming of Winnipeg; as well as brother Herbie Liebrecht of Winnipeg; and sisters, Lydia Propp, and Florence Schwartz of Winnipeg and Hilda Schwartz of Yorkton, SK; together with numerous nieces and nephews. Arnold was the youngest of a very large blended family of 22 and was predeceased by many brothers and sisters, as well as his parents. Arnold and Elsie moved from the Rhein District of rural Saskatchewan in 1947 to start a new life in Winnipeg. From 1947 through 1989, Arnold enjoyed a varied career ranging from odd jobs after first arriving in Winnipeg, through years at Henderson Oil, house building with Winnipeg construction, and for the last 25 years of his working life, with the Winnipeg 1 School Division, where he retired as a Head Custodian in 1989. Arnold loved to have family and friends visit and socialize. He also enjoyed all types of sports and wasnt shy in letting you know how he felt about the Blue Bombers or the Toronto Blue Jays. All you had to do was ask him! Watching his grandchildren play sports was particularly satisfying for him. He also loved to play cribbage, which he did up to the end of his life. Since March 2004, Arnold was a resident of Golden Links Lodge, which he considered his "new home". He very much enjoyed his time at Golden Links where he made many new friends, both residents and staff. The family is particularly appreciative and grateful to the entire staff of the second floor for their outstanding care and support. You have made a difficult time much easier to bear. Thank you! A funeral service celebrating Arnolds life will be held on Monday, December 13 at 2:00 p.m. in the Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, 1541 St. Marys Road, with a viewing from 1:15 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church or CancerCare Manitoba would be appreciated.
