KATALIN (KITTY) MARIANNE KENEDI Peacefully with her family by her side, Katalin (Kitty) Marianne Kenedi, formerly Kopstein, (nee Fodor), passed away on Tuesday, December 7, 2004, at the Victoria General Hospital. Kitty is survived by her daughter Judith Weiszmann, son-in-law Erwin, grandchildren, great-grandchildren as well as her sister in Melbourne, Australia, nieces in the United States and Hungary, and a nephew in Bellville, ON. Kittys funeral service was held at the Sharon Home Simkin Centre, followed by interment at Shaarey Zedek Cemetery. The service was performed by cherished, longtime family friend Rabbi Neil Rose. Kitty was born on October 28, 1909 in Budapest, Hungary. Kitty immigrated to Canada in 1970 with her husband Andor. She became a very proud Canadian citizen in 1976. She celebrated her 95th birthday to great fanfare with her family and friends in October 2004. Kitty lived thru two world wars, as well as the German and Russian occupations of Hungary. Kitty lost her brother Laci during the Holocaust, as well as countless other more distant relatives. Kitty was predeceased by her brother Professor John Parkany and her husband Andor. The family is grateful for the loving care Kitty received from the staff at the Simkin Centre, particularly from nurses, Carol, Mia and Lloyd. Our sincere thanks go out to her companions, Shirley, Gerri, Annette, Martha and Amy, as well as all of the caring staff on the Star of David ward at the Simkin Centre. We also wish to send our sincere thanks to Drs. Pacin, Kaufman and Szirom as well as all the doctors, nurses, staff members and volunteers at Victoria General Hospital. In lieu of flowers, if desired, donations may be made to the Sharon Homes Department of Religious and Pastoral Care in Kittys memory. Shiva is being observed until sundown December 15 at 751 Lanark St.
