Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFLORENCE EVELYN LA ROQUE (nee MOGGEY) March 7, 1923 - December 6, 2004 Mom peacefully succumbed to Alzheimers on December 6, 2004 at Riverview Health Care Centre on B1. She was predeceased by her loving husband Lloyd (July 20, 1997) her parents Emma and Russell Moggey; her sisters, Joyce Ferris, Doris Wells, Margaret McLachlan and Jean Blair. She is survived by her twin daughters, Laurane Simpson and Karen Williams (son-in-law Miles). Also surviving is her sister Ethel Magee (Bob) and brothers, Mel and Jack Moggey; and many relatives and friends. Mom was born and raised in the Wawanesa area. She joined the Womens Royal Canadian Naval Service (WRENS) in February 1943. In October 1945 Mom and Dad married and settled in the Riverview area, where they raised their twin girls and lived all their married life. Mom worked for doctors, Grant, Doel, McGowan, Owens and Valentine for several years and then went on to help Dr. A Kati establish his practice in St. Vital when he came to Canada. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at the Fort Rouge Legion (Branch #97). What can we say about our Mom...She was: caring, loving, loyal friend, and protector of the underdog. We were extremely proud of the way Mom fought for those who couldnt fight back, and we hope that some of these traits were instilled in us. It was devastating when she was diagnosed with Alzheimers Disease in 1996. She succeeded in keeping her dignity and appearance, which wasnt always easy. A thank you to all of those who worked so hard with us to achieve this. You know who you are! Bless you, Carol, for all the personal phone calls....you always steered us in the right direction. A heartfelt thank you to Moms oldest friends - Beth and Doug Cook, and her newest friends - Ruth and Dan Geauvreau for their never-ending love and devotion theyve shown to Mom over the years... especially the last nine. Special thanks to Riverviews H.M.Os for their professional attention, advice and compassion and B1 Staff. Finally...Gerri Borowski! There arent enough words to thank you for all the advice you gave to us throughout the years. Well never forget your kindness! Flowers gratefully declined.
