MURRAY THEODORE GARYCHUK Peacefully, after a brief battle with cancer, Murray Garychuk, aged 75 years, passed away on Saturday, December 11, 2004 at the Grace General Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Murray was predeceased by his parents, mother Kate and father Fred; and brother Willie. He is survived by his devoted, loving wife Jean (nee Livingstone) of 50 years; and his children, Kathy (Michael), Judy (Alan), Fred, and Steve; and his grandchildren, Leah and Adam Pinx, Jason, Chris, David, and Kerry Lagimodiere. Murray was born August 5, 1929 in Portage la Prairie, where he received his education. Murray married Jean November 6, 1954 and moved to Winnipeg where they raised their family. After 32 years in the paper business Murray and Jean moved back to Portage la Prairie where they enjoyed their retirement and hobby farm. Murray gave many years of dedication and service to the Kinsmen Club of Winnipeg and was recognized as a life member, along with serving many local community groups throughout his life. Many friends were made and a variety of locations visited during their yearly winter vacations and travels. In recent years, much time was spent socializing with many friends both at the Herman Prior Centre and the Windsor Estates. The family wishes to give their sincere thanks to the care givers at the Portage General Hospital and the ICU at the Grace General Hospital for the care they provided and the thoughtfulness and compassion that helped guide us through a very difficult time. The service to celebrate Murrays life will be held at the Omega Funeral Home, 83 Royal Rd., Portage la Prairie at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 15. Anyone wishing to share a happy memory will be invited to participate during the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Herman Prior Senior Centre, 40 Royal Rd., Portage la Prairie.
