ALFRED HARTMANN "OPA" On December 9, 2004 Opa passed away peacefully at home after a courageous battle with cancer. Opa was born on June 24, 1930 in Wiener Neustadt, Austria. It was there that he met and married the love of his life, Maria, in 1954. They celebrated their 50th anniversary in June. Alfred was a devoted husband, father and Opa, whose memory will be cherished by wife Maria; son Alfred Jr. (Louise) daughters, Gabriela Irving (Ray) and Karin Mazowita (Glen) and grandchildren, Rebecca, Haley, Amy and Adam. He will also be missed by numerous nieces and nephews in Austria and Switzerland and especially by his dear niece Anna Brown (Carl) of Sunderland, MD. He will be missed by all who knew him. The family would like to thank the staff and doctors involved in his care at the Health Sciences Centre, CancerCare Manitoba, and the Palliative Care Program, especially Sharon, whose visits Opa always looked forward to.
