Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARGARET BORLASE (nee LAURIE) Peacefully, after a brief illness with family by her side, on Monday, December 13, 2004, at the Grace General Hospital, Margaret Borlase, passed away at the age of 80. Margaret was predeceased by her husband John Jack in 1995. Mom will be fondly remembered by her family: sons, Bill (Janice), Don (Colleen), Laurie (Corinne) and Ric (Barb); daughter, Valerie (Doug); grandchildren, David (Sandra), Cynthia (Joe), Bryan, Alysha, Kyle, Scott and Stephanie and great-grandchildren, Daly, Brooklyn and Dillon. Margaret was born in Regina and raised in the Paddockwood area in Saskatchewan. In her teenage years she moved to Winnipeg to complete her education and began her career in accounting. She married Jack Borlase in 1947 and they raised their five children on Conway Street in St. James. When the children were of school age she re-entered the work force, initially in real estate, then property management and then office management, until her retirement. Throughout her married life, she valued her time at Winnipeg Beach in the summer with her children and laterly with her grandchildren. Mom enjoyed entertaining family and friends for special occasions, notably birthdays, Christmas and the annual corn roast at the cottage. After retirement she enjoyed travelling with friends all over North America. Mom spent her last year at the Misericordia Health Centre, and the family gratefully acknowledges the comfort and care provided by the staff on W2/W3. The family extends their thanks to the nurses and staff of the 5th floor at the Grace Hospital, who made her last days comfortable, through their caring, compassionate and professional assistance. At Mom's request, cremation has taken place. A celebration of Margaret's life will be held on Friday, December 17 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Interment and reception will follow. Flowers gratefully declined, the family suggest that donations be made on Mom's behalf to the Misericordia Health Centre Foundation, 99 Cornish Ave., Winnipeg, R3C 1A2 or a charity of your choice.
