WALTER MOSKAL It is with sadness and sorrow that the family announces the sudden passing of Walter, beloved husband of Jean, on Monday, December 13, 2004 at the age of 81. Walter was born in selo Mshanets, Ukraine, and came to Canada at the age of ten with his family, settling in the North End of Winnipeg. He was very proud of his Ukrainian heritage and continued to assist his relatives in Ukraine. Walter was employed with Winnipeg Hydro, retiring in 1988 and was a member of the Masonic Lodge 93. Along with his wife Jean, he has been a member of Holy Eucharist Parish for 46 years. Walter loved Ukrainian music. He belonged to the O. Koshetz Choir in the early days of 1941 and taught violin lessons. Walter loved the Saturday Ukrainian Hour and never missed the Zabava program. He was always making and taping cassette music. Walter leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife Jean (nee Mirus) of 55 years; son Theodore (Ted) of Fort York, ON; sister Olga Land; sister-in-law Sophie Mokris of Iowa; nieces, Linda Teglas of Iowa, Diane Baily (Ernie) of Simi Valley, CA, Marla Jonasson (Ken), Lynn Dodson (Ron), Julie Land, Danielle Alaire (Brent); nephews, Glen Land (Shelby), Michael Mirus (Mimi); many relatives in Saskatchewan and Ontario. He was predeceased by his parents, Mykita and Irene; in-laws, Theodore and Ksenia Mirus; brothers-in-law, William Land, Walter Mokris, Michael Mirus; sister-in-law Pauline Mirus; nephew Darryl Land and cousin Edward Barnett. Panachyda will be sung 7:00 p.m. Sunday, December 19 at Korban Funeral Chapel, 907 Main St. Divine liturgy will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 20 at Holy Eucharist Ukrainian Catholic Church, Munroe at Watt St., with Fr. D. Kawiuk officiating. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. A special thank you to Bernice Rzasa, Mike and Myrtle Pawliw for their love and compassion.
