BARBARA HELEN DRAFFIN (nee WATSON) Died December 15, 2004 at the Golden West Centennial Lodge. Helen was born in Winnipeg on September 18, 1916, the second daughter of David and Helen (Nellie) Watson. She grew up in Weston and attended Cecil Rhodes School and Daniel McIntyre Collegiate. Helen married Hugh McKay Draffin on August 29, 1937 and they shared 59 years together until his death in 1996. Soon after Helen moved into a nursing home and has spent the last three and a half years at Golden West Centennial Lodge. A very special thanks to the 4th Floor staff for their exceptional care and love. Helen was especially grateful for the help and support from her dear friend Mame McLaren these past years. She was a long time member of Calvin Presbyterian Church and belonged to the Ladies Guild. Helen loved to sing and was in the choir for many years. An excellent cook, she delighted in baking wonderful birthday cakes for family and friends. Predeceased by her father and mother, her husband Hugh, her family in California, brother David Watson and his wife Iris, sister May and her husband Allan Hodgert, nephew Allan Hodgert, niece Helen, Tom Watson in Viet Nam; and her in-laws in Winnipeg, Ernest and Louise Draffin and Jack and Doreen (Kit) Draffin. Helen will be remembered by her nieces and nephews in California, Winnipeg, Calgary and Kanata, Ontario, family in Scotland and her many friends in Weston and from the Victoria Arms. There will be a memorial service to celebrate Helen's life on Wednesday, December 22, 2004 at 11:00 am at the Golden West Centennial Lodge, 811 School Road (at Ness Avenue) with Mrs. Major Roxanne Jennings officiating. Internment will take place at a later date. If friends wish, donations in Helen's memory may be made to the Golden West Centennial Lodge. NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200
