Rob was born November 3, 1970 in Winnipeg. He grew up in Fort Richmond area and attended Fort Richmond Collegiate. He joined the navy in 1989. He was a sonar navigator stationed in Esquimolt. Hi my name is Tom D'Arcy from Victoria BC. I know I speak on behalf of all the people that came in touch with Rob during his time here in Victoria and in the Navy, he was the nicest human being you would ever want to meet. Underneath that tough hockey player exterior was a man with a heart of Gold. Rob came with me once to pick out some hockey skates, he insisted I buy a pair of "Daust". I was a little short on money and he did not hesitate and gave me what I needed. - Posted by: Tom D'Arcy (Friend) on: Jan 14, 2005

My Sincere Sympathies to the entire Streu Family at this very sad and emotional time. Rob was not only a business acquaintance, he was a friend. Such a kind hearted guy he was. I'll always treasure the thoughts of the time we spent together whether it was over lunch, doing business at Hart's House of Flooring, or just talking on the phone. I only knew Rob for a short time, but the kind of guy he was, I got to know him well. I miss you Rob... Until we meet again, Nathan - Posted by: Nathan Friesen (Acquaintance) on: Dec 20, 2004

Dear Heather & Hart, I'd like to express my heartfelt sadness to you both. Margo and Darren told me yesterday of Rob's accident. I can't imagine what you must be going through. As you probably know I lost Peter this summer, we were prepared (sort of). But a sudden accident takes you right off guard. As parents, we are not suppose to bury our children. Please know I have you in my prayers, and hope you will get through the Christmas Season.
