HAROLD J. BISSETT
Date of Passing: Dec 18, 2004
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHAROLD J. BISSETT It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of their husband, dad and papa. Harold Bissett, at age 89, left us peacefully on December 18, 2004 at Extendicare Oakview Place with his family by his side. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 63 years, Alice; daughters, Debbi Bissett and Dale Giesbrecht; grandsons, Andrew Robertson and Brad McCreedy. Also several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Doug in 1993. Also predeceased by his parents John and Minnie Bissett of Maryfield, SK., three sisters and five brothers. Through the years, Dad was a man of many occupations. He and Mom started their married life in MacKenzie Island, ON. Their next move was to Fairlight, SK. and finally settled in Winnipeg in 1949. Retiring as co-owner of Electric Shavers in 1980, Dad went on to persue his many other interests. He and Mom travelled to Europe, Hawaii, throughout Canada and the USA where they enjoyed several winters in Texas. Dad's favourite pastimes were curling, golfing, swimming with his friends at the Courts of St. James, and dancing. As members of ANANVETS Assiniboia Unit 283, he and Mom spent many happy hours dancing the night away and wowing the crowd with their excellent style. For the past couple of years, due to health problems, Dad was unable to participate in his favourite endeavours. However, his amazing sense of humour continued right up till his final days. The family wishes to thank the staff at Grace Hospital 5th floor, Misericordia Interim Care, and Oakview 2nd floor for their exceptional kindness and care during the past couple of months. A celebration of Dad's life will be held on Thursday, December 23, 2:00 p.m. at the ANAVETS Assiniboia Unit 283 at 3584 Portage Ave. (immediately west of the new YMCA. Entrance is directly across Portage from David St.). In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated. You loved us...You encouraged us...You made us laugh. We'll miss you!
