RICHARD ERNEST NEWTON Finally at peace with Jesus It is with great sadness that the family announces the unexpected passing of Richard Ernest Newton, beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother, on December 16, 2004 at the age of 55. Richard leaves to mourn his passing, his wife Marion; sons, Doug (Teresa) and Ian (Jodi); grandsons, Michael, Braedan, Matthew and Justin; his parents, Douglas and Margaret; brother Brian (Dina); and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and many special friends. Born in Flin Flon, Manitoba on September 24, 1949, Richard proudly worked for the Province of Manitoba, Department of Highways for over 20 years, until he was forced to retire due to illness. Richard has fought a lifelong battle with hemophilia and, in recent years, with Hepatitis C. A cheerful, outgoing person, who spent many years travelling with his family, Richard enjoyed golfing, fishing and spending time at his cottage. He was known for his sense of humour and all his friends and neighbours knew they could drop by for a laugh and a kind word. His lifelong illness ravaged his body, but never suppressed his indefatigable and persevering spirit. Funeral service will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, on Wednesday, December 22, at 1:00 p.m., with viewing and prayers beginning at 12:30 p.m. Interment will follow at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens, 4477 Main Street. Through his son Doug, Richard has always expressed very special thanks to Dr. Brent Armstrong. With his help and support, Richard's time with us was prolonged and made more endurable. Thanks also go out to the Manitoba Hemophilia Society, whose help, support and guidance were invaluable to Richard and always there when he needed it. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Richard's memory to the Manitoba Hemophilia Society. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
