PETER HRECHKOSY Surrounded by his family, Peter passed away at the HSC on Friday, December 17, 2004, after a brief battle with cancer. Peter will be sadly missed by his wife of 52 years, Jean; children, Marlene (Tom), Tom (Lisa); grandchildren, Laura and Andrew, Kaylyn and Devyn. Peter leaves to mourn his loss, sisters, Mary, Lillian, Olga and Frances; numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews. Peter was predeceased by his parents, Anna and Samuel; brothers, Mike, John, Paul, Bill; and granddaughter Melanie. Peter was born on October 21, 1922. He resided in Winnipeg all of his life devoting his time and talent to his family. Big Pete worked as a Carman at CPR Weston Shops for 38 years, retiring in 1982. Peter enjoyed bowling, gardening, fishing and shopping. He was always there to lend a helping hand when needed. He loved to tinker around in the shack and usually had a project or two on the go. Prayers will be said on Tuesday, December 21, at 7:30 p.m. and funeral service on Wednesday, December 22 at 11:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street with Fr. Nestor Yakiwchuk officiating. Interment to follow in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens, 4477 Main Street. Honorary pallbearer is Joe Wandowich, his longtime workmate and friend from CPR. Active pallbearers will be six of his nephews. The family would like to thank the staff at HSC, Ward GD5 for their care and compassion. Special thanks to Rev. Msgr. Louis McCloskey for his hospital visits.
