Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKENNETH W. WADDELL SPERLING, MB Suddenly at his home in Sperling, Ken passed away December 11, 2004 at 67 years. Ken is survived by daughters, Jacquie Russell (Gordon) and Jo-Ann Waddell (Fred Cummer); two very special grandchildren whom he was extremely proud Brent Waddell Russell and Kaitlin Jade Russell, all of Sperling. Ken is also survived by sister Barbara Kee (Ken) of Trenton, ON, sister-in-law Gwenda Johnston of Rathwell and mother-in-law Annie Cutting of Carman. There are also several nieces, nephews, cousins, many friends and his grand-dogs, walking partner Cash and chore helper Sue. Ken was predeceased by his beloved Marlyn in September 2004; his parents, Annetta and Clifford Waddell; his father-in-law Earl Cutting and brother-in-law Murray Johnston. Ken was born November 13, 1937 in Carman, MB, growing up and attending school in Sperling, and graduating from the U.M. diploma agriculture course. Dad was an avid sportsman, and was a fierce competitor when it came to hockey, curling and baseball. On May 7th 1960, Ken married his best friend Marlyn Cutting of Carman. They settled into life north of Sperling where they farmed and raised their family. Dad had a love of farming and raising cattle. He operated his cow-calf operation and took part in 4H showings and as a leader for many years. After a tough farming year in 1970, Ken joined employment with Sigfusson Transport and worked the winter delivering freight in Northern Ontario on the cat trains. This was the topic of many interesting tales. Dad had a love of music that started with playing the banjo with the Ab Vi Phelps group. After retiring the banjo, Dad developed his bluegrass music CD collection, which he played on his home music centre. Since 1987 the AA group had been a huge part of Dads life. He met and helped many new friends, as they in return were there for him. For this as a family, we are so grateful. Dad enjoyed his later years puttering with his few acres of farmland, fixing machinery, doing a few chores and daily visits with the Sperling Coffee Crew. Dad was a friend to many and could be depended on to give a hand to anyone in need. He will be missed by those whose daily lives he touched. Funeral service will be held from the Carman United Church in Carman on Friday, December 17 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Catherine Waldie officiating. Private interment will take place in Sperling Cemetery. Lunch will follow in the Sperling Community Hall. Thank you to the Carman Emergency Response Team for their quick response and valiant efforts. Also thank you to Dr. Khusi, Marie and Barb at the Carman Hospital for your efforts and comforting words. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Sperling Cemetery Board, in care of Sperling Community Club, Box 2005, Sperling, MB R0G 2M0. Doyles Funeral Chapel of Carman in care of arrangements. www.doyleschapels.com
